The Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Based on one of the most popular television series of their generation, Zach & Brandon revisit 2004's The Spongebob Squarepants Movie. As huge fans of the first few seasons of the show well into their adult years, they discuss the character's appeal, their favorite episodes, and how best to enjoy the series all grown up (typically with a beer in hand or some herbal enhancements at the ready). But how does America's favorite sponge hold up after all these years in his first feature length outing? Tune in to hear all their thoughts on the Goofy Goober song, David Hasselhoff's 12-foot replica, and the epic voice work of it's talented cast. It's bigger, better, and more absorbent.

Ice Age
Wednesday Jul 15, 2020
Wednesday Jul 15, 2020
Nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar as well as spawning four theatrical sequels, 2002's Ice Age became a pop culture phenomenon at the start of the 21st century. The animated comedy's one minute long teaser featuring a strange looking squirrel trying to bury his nut took the world by storm. Little did we know, we'd spend the better part of two decades with Scrat and his mostly extinct mammal pals. Brandon & Zach revisit the first Ice Age to discuss the history of the project, the ray tracing animation, Rusted Root, 'Joe' Leguizamo, and Dodo bird mass suicide.

Balto
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Join Zach & Brandon as they revisit a (mostly) animated tale steeped in controversy. 1995's Balto was a box office failure upon release, but grew in popularity on home video. It's VERY loosely based on the true story about the dog who helped save children infected by the diphtheria epidemic in the 1925 serum run to Nome, Alaska. But 25 years later, the record's been set straight regarding the historical inaccuracies of Balto's heroism. But how does the movie hold up? The boys discuss its distracting side characters, quality of animation and the subtle sexual innuendos hidden in this G-rated kid's flick. Balto... he's part dog. Part wolf. All lies.

Zach & Brandon dive into the Academy Award nominated Shark Tale to see if this early 2000's Dreamworks' family comedy holds up 15 years later. They discuss the vegetarian shark subtext, the ill advised animation of Will Smeeth (yes, that's spelled correctly) as a fish, literal loan sharks, and 'OJ Shrimpson.'

Mulan (1998)
Sunday Aug 18, 2019
Sunday Aug 18, 2019
For two 90's boys with sisters, Mulan was a beloved classic for Zach & Brandon growing up. One of the last of the Disney renaissance era, this empowering action adventure brought humor and heart into the well-worn animated princess genre. The boys revisit the flick to discover what made it so enjoyable back then - and to see if it still holds up today. They, of course, get into the nitty gritty details such as Mulan's wacky soldier sidekicks, Li Shang's personal struggle with falling in love with a woman he believes to be a man, and the sore spine of Eddie Murphy who at times picks the entire movie up and carries it on his little dragon back. That, and much more, on this week's episode!

Saturday Mar 09, 2019
Saturday Mar 09, 2019
Two computer animated family films about insects were racing to release first in the fall of 1998. While Dreamworks' Antz may have beat Pixar's A Bug's Life to theaters by a month, the latter earned more at the box office and has arguably eclipsed the former in terms of pop culture relevance. But is it deserved? Is Antz actually the better film? The boys debate. They also discuss the 'Starship Troopers/ Saving Private Ryan termite battle carnage, the disturbing character facial design that tried to match the actors' features, as well as the historic rivalry between two of Hollywood's animation powerhouse studios.

The Road to El Dorado
Saturday Feb 09, 2019
Saturday Feb 09, 2019
The boys saddle up for an animated adventure filled with Elton John music and implied sex acts. Zach & Brandon share their thoughts on 2000's The Road to El Dorado, including its two interchangeable leads, TWO animal sidekicks, and a villain obsessed with sacrifice. Another early DreamWorks flick with suggestive humor and bright animation that ended up underperforming at the box office. Is it worth introducing to a new generation?
